Mechels Verhuisbedrijf becomes part of the Gosselin Group

Gosselin Group in Belgium has announced that on 25 March 2025 it acquired Mechels Verhuisbedrijf after CEO Marc Smet and the family Van Rompay reached an agreement. All employees and assets will be incorporated in the International Moving Division of the Gosselin Group.

“The acquisition of Mechels Verhuisbedrijf is an important addition to our portfolio of services as they will become part of our team of experts for national moves,” said Marc Smet, CEO of Gosselin Group. “They earned their spurs in this area thanks to the high quality of full-service moves they offer. We are incredibly pleased with this acquisition,”

It was also an important decision for the family Van Rompay who’ve been running Mechels Verhuisbedrijf for seventeen years. “We wanted to assure continuity in our activities for our client base and are convinced that we’re a good match with the Gosselin Group,” said Nancy Wouters, co-owner of Mechels Verhuisbedrijf. “We look forward to the future.”

Marc said that the name Mechels Verhuisbedrijf won’t disappear just yet. “The name it has built in the region around Mechelen is too important for that. We also want to be able to guarantee a smooth transition for our clients.”

Gosselin was founded in 1930 and currently employs more than 1,000 people generating a total turnover of more than 450 million euros. The family Van Rompay purchased Mechels Verhuisbedrijf in 2008. The company currently employs 23 people and is based in Mechelen in Belgium.
