Queensland and NSW flooding update

Ray Beard from Nuss Relocations in Australia has provided an update on the situation in northern New South Wales and Queensland following the recent cyclone.

Cyclone Alfred caused severe flooding in the region resulting in wide-spread infrastructure damage.   Ray said that the main port of Brisbane was closed over the weekend but reopened on 11 March. The port is again accepting containers, but the priority is clearing the backlog of containers onto vessels. Customs and Bio security departments have re-opened too, and clearances are again taking place. Collections and deliveries are happening where local area flooding allows, but those in badly affected areas are being postponed. The weather is now more settled.

Ray said that delays should be expected, not only with exports but particularly with any moving services which touch Queensland and/or northern New South Wales.  Client expectations need to be managed accordingly.
